    1. bring out the harddisk from the the laptop, and insert it in an external harddrive case. then buy a recovery software or download one online and then install it in another computer. put the external harddrive(ie the damaged one) into the computer installed wit the recovery software and use it to recover the files in the damaged hard drive, goodluck

    3. The biggest loss when a hard drive is damaged is usually not the breakdown of the ... may detect your broken hard drive but not let you access the data that was saved on it. ... Many hard drives come with built-in software that allows you to store files more efficiently. ... You can try using programs such as Recover My Files

  2. I have a hp compaq presario v4000 that is 4 years old. it came with 512mb ram, 80gig Hdd and windows xp home edition bt rit now it has windowsxp7 vienna a kind of upgraded windows xp service pack 3. The battery became faulty as it couldn't retain charges any longer but it developed a new problem recently. At first sometimes If I press the ON button to boot the system, all I see is the power led on maybe with the HDD led twick as in it wants to boot and if the system somehow ran on the battery before last shut down the battery led on also but the system won't boot so I googled a solution and first haf to remove the battery to remove residual charges on the laptop b4 bootin it again, it was working then, after sometime I started noticing that the mouse would freeze for sometime and continue working but I ignored it. the incident of not booting and the system freezing at intervals became frequent until one day my brother finished watching movies with the laptop, I normally hibernate the laptop to avoid cold booting frequently cos of the probs it was having. my brother left the system on standby and this made the system
to switch off on its own since the battery couldn't hold it. so when I wanted to use the system, as usual I pressed the power button but had same booting problem, I removed the battery but still the problem persisted, I alternately removed the battery and left the battery while pressing the ON button but in the process sometimes the system will come up as in starts to boot but will freeze and remain there ie stopped booting, I'll switch off and start all over again but continues to encounter same problem. I've tried entering safe mode but the system will also hang on the way, I've tried reinstalling th operating system but still It hangs during bios set up. I've checked the ram but they ar perfectly alrit and rit now have run out of ideas and need helping ideas b4 I can resort to an computer specialist. If motherboard is the problem how much does it cost? and If I get it running again is possible for me to change the casing cos mine is very old?

  3. @Movincoil, remove the ram and insert it back , dont forget if u have 2 pairs of ram 256x2, u will locate one at the bottom while the second ram is hidden at the back of the keyboard so you have to unscrew the keyboard to get to the second ram. If its a single 512 Mb no wahala all u just need to do is eject and insert both then try 2 reboot.
